RIVER CRUISES / GOLF CRUISE IN THE BORDEAUX REGION
Day 1 (Saturday) Castets-en-Dorthe: embarkation from 3pm.
Upon your arrival in Bordeaux, you can opt to use our shuttle bus that will take you to the ship. After you have moved into your cabin, you will be able to discover Castets during a short walk. Because of its numerous orchards, vegetable beds and the very fertile area, it is also called Little Holland. A welcome cocktail awaits you before dinner. You can get to know the ship crew and the other guests. Afterwards we serve the first dinner and you will get a taste of the region’s excellent wines.
Day 2 (Sunday) CASTETS-EN-DORTHE – CASTELJALOUX GOLF
Distance from the boat to the golf course: 40 km / 36 minutes The golf restaurant is open for lunch.
The place is located on a forest edge between Bordeaux and Toulouse, in a magnificent area with a panoramic view over the lake of Clarens. This golf course is certainly one of the most beautiful golf courses in Aquitaine. This 18-hole course with a PAR of 72 was slightly modified in 2006 and brought to a length of 6007 meters. The place is partly in a pine forest with wavy fairways and high greens. The 18-hole course, the panoramic view of the nearby lake, and the forest, all offer good opportunities for players of all levels. In the late afternoon, the MS Bordeaux will take you to Loupiac near Cadillac. After dinner, you have the possibility to take a short walk to the Château du Cros, where you are welcomed by the Boyer family, owner for 4 generations, with the possibility of a wine tasting.
Day 3 (Monday) SAUTERNES – GOLF OF GRAVES AND SAUTERNAIS
Distance to the boat – Golf course 17 km / 24 minutes Golf restaurant open for lunch.
Today you will discover a magnificent 18-hole course. Wooded, with many waters, and a par of 72. On the way back, you will pass the famous Château d’Yquem vineyard, Suduiraut Castle, Château Guiraud, Clos Haut Peyraguey and many others. Per request, the minibus is at your disposal for individual destinations. The path then follows the winding banks of the Ciron river, whose icy waters penetrate the warmer waters of the Garonne. This particularity favors the mold fungus Botrytis Cynerea, which is responsible for the fine sweetness of the berry selection. Back on board, we will ‘Pull the lines’, and sail down the Garonne towards the majestic city of Bordeaux. Soon you will enjoy the sight of the “Port of the moon” with its magnificent facades from the eighteenth century, the Pont de Pierre, the Place de la Bourse and the Quai des Chartrons.
Day 4 (Tuesday) BORDEAUX – GOLF OF PESSAC
Distance boat – Golf course: 16 km / 27 minutes. The golf restaurant is open for lunch .
120 hectares of pine forest are surrounding this course. The Pessac course is rather flat and intermittently interrupted by water obstacles and well-designed holes. Do not lose too many punches on the wide fairways, as the greens you expect are famous all over the region for their quality. The MS Bordeaux will wait for you, at the heart of Bordeaux. UNESCO awarded this well preserved city with a world heritage status. Today you can enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, as well as its many sights. We have created a wonderful tour for you.
Day 5 (Thursday) MARGAUX – GARDEN GOLF OF MARGAUX
Distance to the boat: 11 km / 15 minutes. The Brasserie du Relais de Margaux is open for lunch.
In the morning, we will sail from Bordeaux to the peninsula Médoc. In the heart of the famous vineyards of Margaux and along the estuary of the Gironde, this 18-hole course is beautifully laid out on the Domaine du Relais de Margaux. The 45 hectar course harmoniously blends into the landscape of peace and beauty. The place is set up nicely: once through the pine forest, then along the river, and finally thorugh the beautiful park with many well-thought out water obstacles. Very much worth playing, and of high quality. This trip in Medoc allows you to visit the famous castles of Margaux, Maucaillou, Poujeaux, Rauzan Ségla, Palmer, Issan, Kirwan and other Grands Crus classés. If you pre-order (and are fast on the grass!), you may have the opportunity to visit the Château Lamothe Bergeron, Priory Lichine, or Crus Bourgeois for a wine tasting. In the evening, we continue our trip to Bourg Sur Gironde.
Day 6 (Thursday) BOURG SUR GIRONDE – GOLF BLUE GREEN BORDEAUX-LAC
Distance to the boat: 37 km / 33 minutes The golf restaurant is open for lunch.
Two 18-hole courses, the Jalle and the Etangs, form a true green environment. With its 36 holes, these courses offer a great variety for players of all kinds. The area is famous for endless vineyards. These are dotted with castles, picturesque villages, elegant monuments. Return to Bourg with a lot of wine tasting. In the evening, the MS Bordeaux navigates towards Libourne / Fronsac.
Day 7 (Friday) SAINT EMILION – GOLF OF TEYNAC
Distance to the boat – Golf course 14 km / 19 minutes Golf restaurant open for lunch
This is a Par 68 consisting of 6 Pars 3, 8 Pars 4 and 4 Pars 5. The course is not very long, but it is hilly with wide fairways. Suitable for beginners as well as for advanced golfers. It lies between vineyards and forests and offers 18 holes. On the way back we will take you to the famous vineyards of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. The town of Saint-Emilion is a particularly interesting UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take your time for a sprawling walk and a unique view of the medieval streets and the surrounding vineyards, the monolithic church and the way of life of this particular spot on earth. You should also take a look at the wineries and Châteaux of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, Angelus, Beauséjour, Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Dominica, Clos La Madeleine, Bel Air, Monange, Laroque, Fombrauge, Grand Corbin, Gazin, Petrus. A true paradise for wine lovers! This evening, your boat will welcome you for a particularly festive dinner.
Day 8 (Saturday) LIBOURNE : Departure & transfer back to Bordeaux.
After the last breakfast on board, it is time to say goodbye. The optional shuttle bus to Bordeaux leaves around 9am.
Every second week, the cruise will sail the route the other way around.
