Sunday - Paris to Arles
Meet your crew and guide for a Champagne reception. In the late afternoon, cruise to Arles.
Dine on regional specialities on board. After dinner tour Arles, famous for its Roman ruins. Van Gogh also stayed here from 1888 to 1889.
Monday - Arles to Avignon
Visit the traditional 18th-century provençal bastide in St Rémy for an olive oil tasting.
Relax as you cruise to Avignon past the famous bridge, Pont Saint-Bénezet .
Moor opposite the city gates then visit the spectacular Roman Pont du Gard aqueduct.
Enjoy drinks on deck and a sumptuous dinner.
Tuesday - Avignon
to St Etienne des Sorts
Tour Avignon , home to the Popes of Avignon in the 1300s . Enjoy a guided walk around this magnificent city and the Palace of the Popes.
Take time to peruse the shops or sample French café culture.
Lunch on the barge then visit the world-famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard.
Enjoy a wine tasting then cruise to Saint-Etienne-des-Sorts village.
Wednesday - St Etienne des Sorts to Viviers
Tour the Roman city of Orange, built in 100BC . Discover two of the finest Roman monuments in Europe.
Cruise to Viviers , passing through the Bollène lock, with its dramatic 23-metre drop.
Then enjoy a leisurely stroll around this medieval town.Viviers . There's time for a leisurely stroll around this charming medieval town.
Thursday - Viviers
to La Voulte
Visit Nyons , a typical Provençal village, and visit a lavender distillery and 18th-century olive mill.
Have lunch at the picturesque village of Grignan , famed for its medieval château .
Visit a truffle farm to learn about and taste this world-renowned delicacy.
Join the barge at Le Pouzin and cruise to La Voulte .
Friday - La Voulte
Visit a colourful market in La Voulte with the chef. Pick out ingredients for lunch and enjoy on board.
Cruise past the vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône to Tain or Tournon .
Visit Chez Ferraton , whose winery is a stroll away, and enjoy a tasting and tour.
Back on board dine on a wonderful farewell gala dinner.
Saturday - Valence to Paris
Have breakfast before the crew bids you farewell and you disembark.
On alternate weeks the cruise is in the reverse direction. This is a sample itinerary and is subject to change.
Itinerary: Lyon to Avignon
Meander the Rhône Valley, taste fine wines and delectable local specialities .
Board Belmond Napoleon in Lyon and meet your crew for a champagne reception.
Enjoy evening cocktails as you cruise through the centre of Lyon. Then sit down to dine on superb cuisine accompanied by the finest vintages.
Tour France's second city, Lyon, renowned for its culture and gastronomy. Admire the ornate Basilica of Nôtre-Dame de Fourvière that dominates the skyline. Browse chic boutiques or relax in a sunny pavement café .
Return to the barge and unwind on the deck as you cruise the Rhône Valley to Condrieu .
Pass through the magnificent vineyards of the Côtes Rôties and the Côtes du Rhône , which almost reach the river’s edge.
In the afternoon enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery. Then continue you journey and discover the delights of Tain-l'Hermitage , which include the famous Valrhona chocolate shop. Dinner will be served once you return to the barge.
Cruise to Viviers and admire the beauty of the Rhône Valley from the deck. Disembark mid-afternoon for a guided walk around this charming medieval town.
Return to Belmond Napoleon to play the traditional Provençal game pétanque .
