Eeklo  -  Capital of the Walloon gastronomy

Eeklo   is a small town located in   the North-West of Flanders , in  Meetejesland . It is situated on the canal of the  Lys  and it possesses typical, neo-gothic architecture from the second half of the  19th  century.
Eeklo   has become a city where it is nice to live and lots of people like to relax there.
This is the ideal starting point for a tour of the region, either in the creeks, in the North of the city, or on the nearby coast, or for a visit of the historical cities of Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp.

To see:  Arboretum, belfry, old trades museum.

To taste:  The  cramique  (brioche),  spéculooswaterzooï  ( speciality  containing chicken).

To know:  A legend says that one could come to Eeklo in order to redo "the head" if you did not like your character or your body.

Most Important:  The natural reserve of Het leen with its 200 ha of wood and ponds.

Navigation of the Lys :

You can cross many  creeks, rivers and small picturesque channels . Throughout this course you can discover several port cities such as Bruges, Ghent and Courtrai which are cities worth visiting.

Navigation on the Meuse :
You can navigate through a diverse natural environment of immense cliffs and large forests. There are plenty of castles and manors to see, and you will probably run into some roe-deers or wild boars! A cruise which will undoubtedly be full of surprises!

From Dinant :
