SATURDAY
Our meeting time is 1.30pm at the Hôtel Régina
in Paris. Coach transfer to Plagny, near the ancient city of Nevers, where
the crew of the Chanterelle welcome you on board with cocktails. Dinner
on board.
SUNDAY
Morning cruise to Cours-les-Barres, passing over the
Allier aqueduct of Le Guettin. After lunch, excursion to the Château
d’Apremont set in a medieval village with glorious floral gardens. Dinner
on board.
MONDAY
Day-long cruise through lovely pastoral landscapes to
Ménétréol. Morning excursion to the city of Nevers.
Visit the ancient fortifications, including a 14th century gateway and
the impressive cathedral that contains examples of every architectural
style from the 10th to the 16th century. The city is also known for the
manufacture of porcelain. Afterwards, there is pleasant cruising to the
small town of Argenvières. Dinner on board.
TUESDAY
Visit to Sancerre for a private tasting of the famous
dry wine. afterwards, visit to the goat farm at Chavignol which produces
the best goat cheeses in France, and to the little château in nearby
La Borne. After lunch, cruise on the Briare Canal to the village of Beaulieu.
Dinner on board.
WEDNESDAY
Excursion to the colorful local market in Cosne-sur-Loire,
followed by a visit to the beautiful town of Gien whose château overlooks
the Loire, and the Porcelain Museum. Lunch during navigation through everchanging
landscapes to Briare. During sunset, pass the majestic aqueduct of Briare
with gas lighting, built in 1890 by the engineer Eiffel. Dinner on board.
THURSDAY
Excursion to the impressive brick-built Château
of Saint Fargeau with a history spanning 10 centuries. After lunch, cruise
to Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses. In Rogny there are impressive original 16th
century lock chambers. Farewell gala dinner on board.
FRIDAY
After breakfast, coach transfer to Paris, Hôtel
Régina arriving around 1pm.

may vary. Reverse order on alternate weeks.
The cruise is run in reverse on alternative weeks and excursion days and moorings will therefore change.
