River Saone, the Canal du Centre and the Canal du Rhône au Rhin. You have complete freedom about where to cruise as you may, on longer voyages, travel south to the Canal du Midi and Mediterranean or north to Paris. Our crew’s expert local knowledge is always at hand to guide you to your dream setting. Randle is helmed by a very experienced skipper; the second crew member assists at locks and in the general running of the barge. Taking the helm is a great experience and is open to all guests under the expert supervision of the skipper. Enjoy the relaxed peace of river cruising and visit many interesting sites, towns, museums, abbeys and vineyards. By Road Away from the cities driving in France is a relaxed affair, 130 kph (81mph) reduced to 110 (68mph) kph in rain on the toll roads. Mostly light traffic conditions, you can expect to cruise at the speed limit with out any hold-ups. Travel times from Calais to Dijon are around 6 hours Paris to Dijon around 3 1/2 hours. We offer a discount of €380.00 for those wishing to use their own car throughout the trip By Train The train system in France has been much admired for it is fast, efficient, and comfortable. The TGV, the high-speed train, comes through Montbard to Dijon and on to Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saône, and via Sens to Le Creusot, Mâcon and on to Avignon and Marseille. The regional services run at a more leisurely pace and these trains have been getting a facelift. Most noticeable is the Corail Téoz, a super-smart train on the Paris to Nevers route to Clermont-Ferrand. This has all sorts of luxuries from a children’s play area to leather seats and points for the laptop in first class. |
