| Do I need a driving licence?: Rive de France is
among those companies which are approved by the French Ministry of Transport
to issue the navigation licence valid throughout your cruise: this means
that you don't need a river navigation licence. Everyone can take the helm.
just take a few seconds to imagine the joy of your children at being able
to control the family boat.
How do we go through locks? : You go through locks free of charge, since the pleasure-boat toll fee is included in the rental charge. For lock opening times on public holidays, consult the table in the price schedule. You will come across several types of lock on your journey. Most are automatic, and so are easy to open. Allow about 10 to 15 minutes for getting through a lock. This is a moment when you can relax and get to know the lock-keepers. Is there Parking available at the base? : A free, open-air car park is available at each base. it will be offered when you book, or at the starting base. What luggage should I take? : Don't take any bulky luggage. Take with you clothes you can relax in, as well as rain-proof clothes and non-skid shoes. Guide-and map-books and cruise itineraries : We advise you to order the guide- and map-book which will enable you to plan your journey. it will be a very valuable companion throughout your cruise. Can I have mail sent to me? : You can have your mail sent to the starting base. We shall keep it until your return. |
Can I bring my pet? : Pets are welcome aboard.
Don't forget to bring what you need to make them comfortable : feeding
bowl, blanket or basket, etc.
Can I hire bicycles? : The essential companion for your riverside rambles. You can obtain these at our various bases. Can I go fishing? : River cruises are the ideal holidays for keen anglers. You must nevertheless obtain a fishing licence. Where can I find a mooring? : You can stop wherever you want, free of charge as a rule, except in certain harbours. Where can I find good food? : Let yourself be tempted by the delicacies of the regions you cross. There are many villages with excellent specialities. Practical hints : Don't forget a torch (flashlight) you will need it, especially when returning to the boat after dark. Is it easy to find food and groceries? : Your grocery
shopping will be made easier with the shops located not far from our bases,
and at certain riverside halts. Otherwise you are never really very far
from a shop. |
