The Canal du Midi has been selected as one of the world's greatest treasures by UNESCO. Completed in 1681, most of the original bridges and locks are still there today. 

The canal is tree lined and passes through vineyards and medieval villages as it winds its way from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic ocean.
